Accessibility audit
Website accessibility audits that end with fixed code
Most accessibility audits end with a long PDF and a to-do list nobody owns. Ours end with your site fixed. We test your key pages against WCAG 2.2 AA, fix the problems in your site's code, and check the result with a keyboard and a screen reader before anything goes live.
While we're in there, we fix what stops visitors getting in touch: unclear buttons, forms that fail on a phone, pages that bury your contact details.
- Fixed price from £3,000
- Usually live in 2 to 3 weeks
- Tested to WCAG 2.2 AA
What the Accessibility & Conversion Sprint includes
An audit of the pages that bring in work
We review your home, services, contact and booking pages on phone and desktop, plus the journey a new client takes from landing on your site to sending an enquiry. Every issue is checked against WCAG 2.2 AA and written up in plain English, ordered by how much it hurts real users.
Fixes made in your site's code
We don't hand you the list and leave. We fix the issues ourselves in your HTML, CSS, JavaScript or React: headings, labels, colour contrast, focus states, alt text, error messages, page titles. No overlay, no plug-in, no toolbar.
Keyboard and screen reader testing
Automated checkers only catch part of the problem. We go through each journey using only a keyboard, then with a screen reader (VoiceOver and NVDA), and fix anything that traps, confuses or skips a user.
Forms that work for everyone
Contact and booking forms are where most sites lose people. We make sure every field has a label, errors say what went wrong and how to fix it, and the whole form can be filled in without a mouse.
Conversion fixes
Clearer layout, wording and buttons on the pages that matter, so more of the people who arrive actually get in touch.
A working preview, then go-live
You check every change on a preview before it goes live. Once it's live, we retest and give you a short summary of what we fixed and what's left, if anything. You also get a draft accessibility statement for your site.
Why an accessibility overlay won't make your site compliant
What an overlay actually does
An overlay is a script that adds a toolbar or widget to your site and tries to patch problems as each page loads. The code underneath stays broken. A missing form label is still missing. A button a keyboard can't reach is still out of reach for anyone who doesn't open the widget, and most disabled users already have their own tools set up the way they like them.
What the law and the standard look at
WCAG 2.2 is measured on what your site delivers to the person using it. The Equality Act 2010 asks whether disabled people are put at a substantial disadvantage when using your service, not which plug-in you installed. No UK law, regulator or standard treats an overlay as proof of compliance.
What happened when a vendor claimed otherwise
In 2025 the US Federal Trade Commission ordered a leading overlay company to pay $1 million, after finding it couldn't back up its claim that its AI tool made websites compliant (FTC press release). Hundreds of accessibility specialists, including people who helped write the WCAG standard, have signed the Overlay Fact Sheet asking site owners not to rely on these tools.
What we do instead
We fix the cause. Once the code is right, your site works with whatever assistive technology a visitor already uses, and there's no monthly widget fee to keep paying.

What it costs and how it pays back
Accessibility & Conversion Sprint
from£3,000fixed
Bigger sites, web apps or extra journeys are quoted after your free walkthrough. You'll know the full price before we start.
How it pays back
Work it out with your own numbers. Say a new client is worth £2,500 to you in their first year. If a form that works on a phone and a clearer contact page bring in two extra clients a year, the Sprint has paid for itself. Everything after that is profit.
Around 1 in 4 people in the UK are disabled, according to the government's own figures (Family Resources Survey). Many more are older, on a small phone screen, or reading in a hurry. A site that works for them works better for everyone.
What it saves you
- A complaint or legal letter about your site, and the cost of answering it
- A failed accessibility question on a tender or supplier form
- A yearly fee for an overlay that doesn't fix the problem
Who it's for
- Accountancy, legal and professional practices that win work through their website
- Construction, engineering and B2B trade suppliers bidding for UK public sector or enterprise contracts that require WCAG 2.2 AA
- UK businesses selling to EU customers who may fall under the European Accessibility Act
- Teams that already had an audit and need someone to actually make the fixes
Where we've done this before
We've designed, audited and fixed digital services for UK government departments, a national transport operator, professional health bodies and an international public sector organisation, where WCAG compliance is a legal requirement.
Our own site is tested to WCAG 2.2 AA, and our accessibility statement says how.
Accessibility audit questions
How much does a website accessibility audit cost in the UK?
Our Accessibility & Conversion Sprint starts at £3,000 fixed, and that includes fixing the issues, not just listing them. It covers your key pages and the enquiry journey, tested to WCAG 2.2 AA. Larger sites and web apps are quoted after a free video walkthrough.
Do you just report the problems, or fix them too?
We fix them. We make the changes in your site's code, test them with a keyboard and a screen reader, and show you a working preview before anything goes live. If another developer or agency looks after your site, we can work alongside them.
How long does an accessibility audit and fix take?
Usually 2 to 3 weeks from the day you say yes to the fixes going live. That includes the audit, the code changes, testing and your review of the preview.
Will an accessibility overlay or plug-in make my website compliant?
No. An overlay adds a toolbar on top of your site but leaves the broken code underneath, and it often gets in the way of people using screen readers. No UK law or standard accepts an overlay as proof of compliance. The fix has to be made in the site itself.
Does the European Accessibility Act apply to UK businesses?
Only if you sell covered products or services to consumers in the EU, such as online shopping, banking, e-books or transport tickets. Service businesses with fewer than 10 staff and turnover or balance sheet under €2 million are exempt. In the UK, the Equality Act 2010 is the law that applies. We're not lawyers, so check with one if a contract depends on it.
